We get it… winter mornings are hectic, and sometimes you just don’t have the time (or energy) to clear every inch of snow off your car. But skipping this step doesn’t just affect your visibility on the road… it can also hit your wallet.

That’s right: leaving snow on your car, whether it’s on the roof, windshield, or windows, is actually illegal.

According to the SAAQ, drivers must operate a vehicle with an unobstructed windshield and windows. If you’re pulled over, you could face a fine between $100 and $200, and officers can require you to clear the snow on the spot, no matter where you are.

So before you head out, make sure your car is snow-free… and keep that snow brush within reach!
