Looking for a way to better organize your kitchen pantry? Well, you came to the right place!

While making a New Year’s resolution seems like a very passé tradition these days, there’s always room for improvement - no matter what time of year it is. 

According to Alison Cayne, founder and CEO of Haven's Kitchen, "The state of your pantry is the state of your mind -- and if you can keep it organized and know what you have and need, that is definitely a metaphor for a good kitchen."

Here are a few simple tips that you can follow along with to freshen up your pantry with a few re-stock and clean up hacks:

Organize your spices. Take whatever package you bought your spices in and toss them. Organize your spices in clearly labeled containers, like small mason jars. This will clear up the clutter and make cooking easier.

Dry foods, snacks and cereals all go in containers. Similar to spices, you want to package away your dry foods into clear sealed containers. 

Stock up on cooking essentials. Sometimes trying out new recipes means having various items on hand. Avoid making that trip to the grocery store and stock up on these cooking essentials: honey, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, kewpie mayonnaise and a hunk of parmesan cheese. Also recommended to have lemons, limes, garlic, and onions.

Know when to put items in the fridge. Keep your “pantry” foods fresh longer after opening its packages. To keep your nuts and flour fresh for way longer, you might want to consider putting them in the fridge after first opening them.

Keep your oils away from heated surfaces. Try having two oils at your disposal: one for cooking and frying, and the other for making fresh salads. To make sure that they last longer, keep them away from heated surfaces. Best place to store them? In the fridge! This will make sure they remain fresh and have a longer shelf life.
