Once again, this weekend (August 3 to 5) many roads in and around Montreal will be closed for construction. Highway 15 will be closed once again, forcing motorists into long detours. Additionally, Osheaga festival is sure to cause additional traffic in the metro system and on Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
Here are the main road closures to look out for this weekend.
Transports Québec is recommending motorists avoid the Décarie Expressway all weekend. It will be completely closed in both directions around Turcot from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Entrances and exits will begin to close at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Basically… Avoid the 15 at all costs this weekend! You’re better off taking the 40, 13 and 20 as a detour.
CLOSED: Thursday 10 p.m. to Friday 5 a.m.
CLOSED in the downtown direction: from Sunday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
Don’t forget about Osheaga Festival this weekend! The annual music and arts festival is being held on Île Notre-Dame again this year, meaning thousands of festival goers will be crossing the bridge from Jean-Drapeau metro. This is likely to cause traffic on Sainte-Hélène Island and possibly also on Jacques-Cartier Bridge. But most of all, you can definitely expect more traffic on the yellow line and around Berri-UQÀM.
