Beaconsfield High School Closed by Police after Social Media Threats

Beaconsfield High School Closed by Police after Social Media Threats google

[UPDATE - 11:54 a.m.] There was a handful of students and staff at the school at the time the code red was called. One commmenter on our Facebook page says her child had been at school since 7:45 in the morning. Around 8 a.m., the code red was called, and the school's occupants stayed locked down in classrooms until about 9 a.m., when police cleared the scene.

Montreal police (SPVM) closed Beaconsfield High School early Tuesday morning “to investigate a post that was made on a social network”. Buses were turned around and kids were sent home, according to an email sent to parents by the Lester B. Pearson School Board at 9:15 a.m.

The SPVM also sent out a Tweet at 9:48 to explain the situation, saying “they (sic) are no students on site and there is no danger.”

There is still no word on the nature of the social media post, or which site (Facebook? Instagram? Snapchat? Twitter?) it was posted on.

We will update this story as more information surfaces.
