The iconic 180,000 recycled plastic rainbow balls that decorate Ste-Catherine Street for nine years are officially coming down, but you can now purchase a little piece of Montreal’s LGBTQI history. Each order will be approximately $100 and will contain 54 balls with a choice of six different colors and a kit to install them.
Since 2011 the landmark «18 Shades of Gay» by landscape architect Claude Cormier in Montreal's Gay Village was all pink in the first 7 years and then became multicolored in 2017 inspired by the rainbow LGBTQI flag. The money raised with the sales of the rainbow balls will help The Village with their next ART IDEA which will be introduced in spring of 2020 also $10 will be donated to 3 different organizations.
The LGBTQI community has a few restrictions with your purchase.
- The balls are not to be used for commercial use.
- The balls are not to be used for public use.
- All orders will be "pick up" ONLY at Espace Village (1211 Ste. Catherine Est)
