The ultra-popular Japanese clothing retailer UNIQLO is finally coming to Montreal, after years of waiting, TVA Nouvelles reports. The brand will have its own store on Sainte-Catherine Street, thus eliminating the need for Montreal consumers to order UNIQLO products online, as was previously the case.
UNIQLO Canada already has physical stores in Vancouver and Toronto, and has made no secret of its plans to expand into Quebec. Rumour has it that UNIQLO will take over the retail space formerly occupied by Forever 21 in the Eaton Centre, in the heart of the downtown core.
The newly-renovated Eaton Centre is also expected to welcome a Time Out food market and GAP, Sephora, and Decathlon stores. There is no word on when UNIQLO is expected to open, but Time Out has long claimed its new-concept food market will be open before the New Year.
Known for its cheap, quality house brand of garments, UNIQLO is sure to be a welcome addition to Montreal’s shopping landscape and a fierce competitor to nearby clothing retailers.
More to come!
