Details

Nikki and Mark talk to Alex D'Arrisso Director of Student Services at Solomon Schechter Academy about how this time can be very distruptive to your kids and how to handle the situation day by day.

How disruption is this time for kids?

Alex D'Arrisso:  It is very disruptive there is a lot of uncertainty at this time in families. Children are out of school, they don't have the routine or social contact that they are used to, so this can cause anxiety.

What are your thoughts on learning from home?

Alex D'Arrisso: I think that it’s both good and bad: students continuing to learn from home whether it is a more structured program, or just access courses online give them a sense of a daily routine. It also allows them to still feel connected at home.

How are you advising parents to speak to their kids?

Alex D'Arrisso: Stay calm and reassuring to create a sense of security, ask them to share with the family how they are feeling and lean on each other and foster that comfort to your children.
