Quebec reports over 2000 new COVID-19 cases and a spike in hospitalizations

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Quebec surpassed 2,000 once again as health authorities reported a total of 2,071, as well as 35 new deaths, including seven over the past 24 hours.

The island of Montreal was responsible for 727 of today’s cases and nine of the deaths.

The seven-day average for increases in cases is now 2,385.

According to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, there has been 234,695 recorded cases and 8,815 death across Quebec since the start of the pandemic.

The number of hospitalizations in the province has increased by 19 since Tuesday for a cumulative total of 1,516. Among these, 229 patients are in intensive care.

The only positive news is that province has now passed the 100,000 mark for vaccine doses administered, and Quebec says it has received 156,325 more doses which will be handed out soon.
