Thousands of Montrealers came to pay their respects at The Bell Centre during the Guy Lafleur viewing that was held this past Sunday.

On April 22nd, Lafleur passed after his longtime battle with lung cancer. The news devastated Montrealers and Canadians from all over.

The downtown arena was entirely decorated as a hockey cathedral to celebrate the life of the longtime hockey legend. In addition to the thousands of fans that came to the viewing, past and present Montreal Canadiens players were in attendance.

Premier François Legault and Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante were among the very first to arrive at the event to pay their respects to Lafleur’s friends and family.

Today, Montrealers are invited to say their final goodbyes to Guy Lafleur at The Bell Centre until 3pm. There will be a national funeral being held on Tuesday, May 3rd at the Mary Queen of the World Cathedral in Montreal.
