Jessica Simpson treats her daughter to mascara when she’s feeling generous.

The singer is mother to six-year-old daughter Maxwell and five-year-old son Ace with husband Eric Johnson, and decided to bring her little girl along as her plus one when she attended Beautycon in Los Angeles earlier this month (Jul18). And Jessica shared that she’s more than happy to let Maxwell experiment with cosmetics at home.

“I kind of just let her do her thing and express herself,” the 38-year-old explained in an interview with People. “We don’t always let her wear mascara, so of course that’s her favourite.”

Though the product is supposed to be saved as “a special treat,” Maxwell “tends to sneak it already” without either of her parents noticing.

The A Public Affair hitmaker added that her daughter isn’t shy when it comes to expressing her opinion regarding her mum’s latest looks, and wasn’t a fan of the bright red wig she wore while celebrating her 38th birthday a couple of weeks ago.

“My name was Vivian for the night. I had red hair - Max didn’t like my red hair,” Jessica said, before addressing her child. “You were like, ‘Will you have your hair blonde again?’”

“It was fun for me. It was fun for (Eric),” she teased.

However, Jessica admitted that her first child's love of the industry means she is able to provide input when it comes to designing new products for her make-up brush brand Beauty Fiend.

"My daughter is just as obsessed with hair and make-up and entertainment as I am," she smiled. "She has helped me along the way. It's good to have an opinion from a six-year-old. We all need a little youth."
