Kate Moss wears her golden beachy waves with a middle part as she poses with Kendall Jenner during New York Fashion Week. Kendall shows off her sleek lob parted on the side. Anne Hathaway shows off her blonde hair as she poses with Jessica Chastain who wears a blunt bob with a wave and a red lip. The two celebrated 50 years of Ralph Lauren. Cardi B wears pink make-up and a wavy bob.
To chop or not to chop, that is the question at this time of year! If you haven’t already made major hair changes, you are probably thinking about it. Sun damage and sea salt may warrant a refresh, or maybe you want a richer hair color.
Maybe you want to switch up your make-up and try the barely-there natural look, or wear a red lip as your tan disappears. If you are really experimental, you may want to play with a graphic eye or colorful eye shadows.
With film festivals, fashion weeks and seasonal changes, celebrities are showing off all the hot fall looks. Here are our favorite fall beauty trends!
It’s all about bangs. Baby bangs, curtain bangs and bobs with bangs. Are you thinking about it? If you do, be sure to select the right bangs for your face shape with your hair dresser. Selena Gomez just got baby bangs. Cardi B showed off her baby bangs at the 2018 MTV Music Awards. The new bangs work with long or short hair. Curtain bangs worn with hoop earrings are a huge look as we transition from summer to fall.
DIY topknots were all over the Spring 2019 runways and on the streets during New York Fashion Week. We love the freedom and ease of this trend. The “boss bun” is a great way to make a strong statement.
Both Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman showed off their long locks with these loose braids at TIFF this weekend. Julia poses with her Homecoming co-star Dermot Mulroney. Kim Kardashian’s boxer braids still have impact.
The New Redheads
Julianne Moore lightened her hair to a strawberry blonde, a color we are seeing everywhere. According to Refinery29, Nova Salon calls this the “lioness color”. It’s about bringing out the golden colors and strawberry blondes. They also say it's important to find the right tone to match your roots so the colors grow out seamlessly.
Rich Chestnut Browns
Rich chestnut browns with caramel highlights look amazing on Olivia Munn who shows off an ultra-violet eyeshadow. Jennifer Garner goes with lighter golden highlights and soft waves. Rich browns look amazing with the barely-there make-up trend.
Lady Gaga’s October Vogue make-under is proof that platinum blonde will never go away. Beyoncé’s baby blonde highlights look natural and sun-kissed. Streetstyle stars are still showing off beachy blonde waves at New York Fashion Week. Blonde bobs, shoulder-length or long hair styles all look gorgeous. Cupcakes and Cashmere’s Emily Schuman finally achieved her dream shades of blonde with the help of her LA colorist Justin Anderson. Anne Hathaway just went blonde which caused a stir at the Venice Film Festival.
The wet look continues to grace the runways because it makes a dramatic and sexy statement. Rita Ora showed off the wet look at the 2018 MTV Music Awards. Amber Heard wore a pony tail and wet look at the 2018 Hollywood Foreign Press Association Grants Banquet. Even Selena Gomez wore the look when she showed off her new (previously shown) baby bangs. Kaia Gerber sported the wet look and a hair clip on the Alexander Wang catwalk at New York Fashion Week. Hair accessories continue to be seen on the runways through 2019.
Want to make a dramatic change without a dramatic cut? Just change your part. The middle part is taking centre stage with many A-list stars like Hailey Baldwin. Or, select a dramatic side part for that “Old Hollywood” look like Blake Lively, Kate Mara, and the Duchess of Windsor Meghan Markle. Don’t be afraid to add some 80’s volume. The part can be made with a fine-tooth comb or play with a messier part for more a casual vibe.
The bob continues to be a hot trend sported by many celebs. Combine it with bangs or the wet look for maximum impact. Wear it sleek or in waves.
The Red Lip
From bright to dark shades, no lipstick color says glamour quite like red does. Jennifer Lawrence, Leighton Meester, Karlie Kloss and Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan all show off the powerful impact of red lipstick.
There are so many ways to wear the cat eye. From the classic black liner with the new luminous pink shadows, to using colorful eyeliners, to dramatic smoky cat eyes. This look is an invitation to experiment. Bella Hadid looked ultra-glam during New York Fashion Week, while Emma Rossum wore red eyeliner to the 2018 Sports Humanitarian Awards. While you are experimenting with your eye liner, don’t be afraid to try a more graphic look. Or draw the line under your eye or just at the corner. There are no rules anymore.
Pink, Sparkle and Foil
Pink isn’t going anywhere. From paler blush shades to darker fuchsia eyes and lips; we are seeing shades of pink on everyone. From glossy, sparkly, natural looks to dramatic pink statements. Try a pink liner, mascara or eye shadow. Or, try this rose gold foil lip.
By playing with nude tones and transparent glosses, you can try the barely-there trend for minimalists. The idea is to let your natural looks shine.
