Every December, the debate of whether to get a REAL or FAKE Christmas tree resurfaces. With both approaches offering pros and cons, there’s good reason to give the question careful consideration.
There’s something special about having a REAL Christmas tree… They smell AMAZING, and many people see the annual trip to the market as a family tradition. But plastic trees offer certain advantages! A fake tree might be more convenient, as long as you have the space to store it. No need to go buy a tree each year (a labour-intensive chore). Just take the plastic one out of storage and you’re all set! Fake trees may be more expensive, but they also last longer.
Trees are also really good at capturing and storing carbon as they grow. Trees actually suck carbon out of the atmosphere, which is a really good thing. Plus, they don’t go to waste when you’re done with them. Discarded trees are reduced to mulch and used as fertilizer for new Christmas trees and other plants.
So next time you’re wondering what type of tree you should get, maybe you should consider a real tree…
