Demi Moore has touched on how her three daughters have been impacted by negative comments they've read about themselves on social media.

The 56-year-old made the comments during a discussion with actress Gwyneth Paltrow and author Arianna Huffington at Paltrow's annual In Goop Health summit in New York City on Saturday (09Mar19).

During the conversation, the trio tackled the topic of dealing with technology and social media, with People magazine reporting that the stars called the “growing addiction” to phones a “crisis”.

“We need to set boundaries,” Huffington said. “We need to put down our phones and connect with ourselves and our loved ones.”

Moore agreed with the remarks, pointing out that she noticed a change in her girls when they were first exposed to the internet and social media.

“My children were the first generation that were put under the microscope, and my kids are battling huge self-esteem issues because adults in an anonymous forum commented saying they were ugly,” she commented. “It’s devastating as a parent.”

The Ghost star has three daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis; Rumer, 30, Scout, 27, and Tallulah, 25.

Despite struggling with online pressures, Moore revealed that it's now her children that are educating her on how to navigate online spaces.

"I already think they’re more evolved and more confident and less apologetic for who they are and the space that they’re taking,” she reflected. “I think I’m getting more insights from them than I’m giving.”

Closing the discussion, the three women stressed the importance of not allowing technology to take over our lives.

"It’s a beautiful tool that can be used in a powerful way, but it shouldn’t be a marker for our place in the world," Moore concluded.
