It’s a sure sign that winter is coming: the uneaten Halloween candy has been cleverly stashed away, the clocks have been set back and the leaves have fallen… Now, Montrealers must brace for the season’s first snowfall, a full 24 days before the winter tire deadline arrives on December 1st.
Forecasted lows of -8°C are also expected to hit the Montreal area by next Monday.
This year, the Quebec government has moved the mandatory winter tire deadline forward by 15 days. Motorists must now have winter tires on their vehicles by December 1st, or face fines. Still, Mother Nature doesn’t wait for drivers, and it’s typical for this time of year to get at least some snow and freezing temperatures before the winter tire deadline. Motorists will have to use extra caution on the road to avoid accidents and crashes, especially considering some will inevitably not have winter tires on their vehicles yet.
Be careful out there!
