Maisie Williams has teamed up with Weekday to design a two-piece outfit made of sustainable fabric.

Executives at the Swedish denim and fashion brand, which was founded in 2002, are currently working with the Infinited Fiber Company (IFC), which can turn textile, cardboard and agricultural waste into new and cotton-like materials. These fabrics can be recycled again and again without comprising on quality.

Experts at IFC, a project funded by the H&M Group, have given Weekday bosses exclusive access to a few metres of the innovative sustainable fabric and they approached the Game of Thrones actress about raising awareness of the ground-breaking recycling process.

The 22-year-old subsequently collaborated with the Weekday team to co-design a two-piece outfit - a denim-look corset and matching trousers - which is made entirely from IFC fabric. She will wear it at a public event to spread the message about sustainability.

Maisie took to Instagram to announce the partnership by sharing snaps, taken by her boyfriend Reuben Selby, of her in the ensemble.

"You like my two-piece!???? Well, this is no ordinary two-piece. I have teamed up with @weekdayofficial and @infinitedfiber to co-create this fabulous double-denim dream using the world's first fabric made from recycled cardboard and agricultural waste," she wrote in the caption. "The best part about this fabric?! It can be continuously recycled. I SAID CONTINUOUSLY RECYCLED... Incredible. Weekday are the first fashion brand to create a garment with this fabric, which means I'm the first to wear it. Ahhhhhh. Making history today (heart emoji)."

In a statement, the star added, "I'm so excited to work with fast fashion companies that are taking a conscious step forward. The IFC fabric looks and feels just like any other denim and for Weekday to create the first custom piece of its kind, for me, leaves me flattered."
