Billy Porter has made history with his new cover photoshoot for Allure magazine.
The Pose star is the first male-identifying person to front the publication's The Art of Beauty issue, and in stunning images for accompanying shoot, Porter is dressed in extravagant outfits by Area and threeASFOUR.
"She's a cover girl, y'all! I'm so unbelievably excited and proud to be gracing the cover of @allure's February 2020 "The Art of Beauty" issue! It is such an honour to be the first male to be on the cover in history," the 50-year-old wrote on Instagram, alongside an image of his cover. "This is a testament that times can change and are changing. And it happens with visibility. Ya'll better RUN to newsstands."
In the accompanying interview for Allure's February 2020 issue, Porter opened up about his love for fashion and clothes, and joked that when he was younger, his family insisted his taste was too expensive.
"It was always an expression for me. I always wanted to do something different. I always wanted to express myself in my clothes differently. And I always had great taste. And expensive taste. When I was 10, I could walk into a store for my Easter suit and scan the suits, and it would inevitably be the most expensive suit in the store," he laughed, adding that he was told by his loved ones that he had to get a job so he could afford high fashion.
"I understood they couldn't give me the s**t I wanted."
