For the first time in nearly two and a half months, gas in Montreal will cost you more than a dollar a liter.

You can still find it at about 90 cents in the Montérégie and the Laurentians, so the average price per liter for the province is at about 93 cents. Either way, the 70 to 90 cents a liter we’ve been seeing since mid-march seems to be over.

Since Quebec health officials gave the “OK” to reopen all businesses as of March 25th, the economy will slowly go back to normal and the increase in demand for gas will be needed, so the prices will continue to climb to it reaches the norm.

For the province of Quebec, the average price per litre was just above $0.93, $0.85 in Gatineau, $0.88 in Sherbrooke, $0.92 in Quebec City, $0.93 in Rimouski, and $0.95 in Trois-Rivières.
