Everyone’s favorite aardvark has finally said his last goodbye.

Last summer, the creators of Arthur announced that they would be airing their very last season on PBS. Having debuted in 1996, the United States' longest-running children's show produced over 250 episodes in just 25 years time. Originally based off of author Marc Brown’s book series, “Arthur Adventure”, the kids cartoon quickly grew into an iconic moment in pop culture for many generations of people, according to Today.com.

Yesterday, Arthur made his final appearance on PBS, ending with a flashforward scene to 20 years from now... We get to see where the cast ends up and learn that Arthur has written a graphic memoir about his life. Kind of like the show itself!

Throughout its time on air, Arthur played a great role in educating kids about important social issues in the most sensitive and caring of ways. From cancer, autism, to their 2019 episode on same-sex marriage, the show helped shaped the minds of children in so many amazing ways.

Beyond their progressive storytelling talents, Arthur is known for its iconic memes that have taken the internet by storm... From Arthur’s clenched fist to D.W. looking intensely through a fence, we have them to thank for the many laughs we’ve shared over the years online.

4 Emmy’s and a Peabody Award later, Arthur is walking away after 25 successful years of shaping our younger generations into stronger, braver, and kinder people. Although the show will continue to run on PBS even after the last season finishes… We will miss it dearly!
