A family in Germany has set a new world record for most Christmas displays.

Thomas and Susane Jeromin, a couple living in Lower Saxony, spent months preparing more than 400 trees, and 10,000 ornaments in their flat to be awarded the world record. And if that wasn’t enough, each part of the house features a different theme including the hallway which is candy-cane-themed.

Record Judge Olaf Kuchenbecker, for Germany's Rekord Institute, said that "Family Jeromin is really the world leader here". "There are 444 trees standing this season, or today, here in this house in Rinteln.”

"And I have counted all of them, that is indeed correct.

"And what is important for us- for the record - is that the trees are actually fully decorated."

Thomas Jeromin, 55, said this isn’t the first time they’ve gone this far to decorate their home and have actually done it nine times in the past.

It's currently unknown exactly how much the family spent on the decorations but Joanne said she has splashed at least £35,000 on decorations for the festive season, including a three-meter tall Santa Claus that cost £800.
