A fun and easy idea for a kids party, that they can help you with. Ready-to-use decorating icing is perfect for drawing facial features on the ‘ghosts’ or you can use chocolate chips. Pieces of celery stalk makes great stems on peeled oranges or tangerine ‘pumpkins’. These are so easy to make, it’s “boo-nanas”. Sorry, I had to.
Severed Finger Hot Dogs:
It doesn’t get nastier than this! That’s why ‘severed finger hot dogs’ are always good Halloween fun.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Start carving the ‘fingernails’ first. Slice both ends of the fingernail and then across the top. Slightly curve your cut for the bottom of the nail bed. Carefully remove the piece. For knuckles, cut a slit midway down the hot dog, with a rounded slit on either side. Repeat at the very bottom and then boil for 5 minutes. Present hot dogs in bungs with ketchup smeared at the bottoms of each “finger”. If you really want to freak people out, add a thin slice of onion, shaped like the fingernail and set it up top as a fingernail.
Perfect Pizza Monster
One of my fave Halloween parties ever, featured a make-your-own pizza station! We had bowls of various toppings: olives, cheeses, pineapples, cold cuts, veggies, and then challenged each other to make a scary, customized pizza. Put a little imagination in to it and see what you can come up with. It’s easier than you think.
Alien Burgers:
An easy and fun idea if you’ve got those mini sliders at your next Halloween bash. Just a minor adjustment to where you’d normally place cheese and pickle on your burger pays off with an adorable alien monster. My fave part is the olives and those red pimento eyes!
GingerDead Men :
You can’t call yourself a Halloween fan if you’ve never made “GingerDead Men”! I also make them at Christmas, so I picked up an inexpensive cookie cutter. The skeleton design is adorbs but if you really want to have some fun, buy ready to use decorating gels, in different colors. Also a fun activity for kid’s parties.
