A Quebec City driver who was caught without caps in his tires’ valves was slapped with a $107 fine by police. Photos of his ticket have been circulating on social media, with other drivers calling the fine ridiculous and totally unnecessary.

To justify the ticket, police officer Michael Cloutier referred to Article 213 of the Highway Safety Code, which states that a vehicle’s owner must keep their equipment in constant working order. According to the officer, not having a tire valve installed counts as an infraction to this rule.
