A historic day on the roads in Quebec. After four years of construction, including months of delays, you can finally drive over the brand new Champlain Bridge. The Northbound direction has been open since 5am (Monday). The Southbound side is set to open Canada Day.
The new span comes in at a cost of $4.47-billion and runs 3.4-kilmoeters long. By comparison, the bridge is about as long as the longest runway at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport and about as tall as the Olympic Stadium.
