Jessica Simpson carried a cup "filled to the rim" with alcohol during her lengthy battle with binge drinking.

The singer turned fashion mogul delves into her addiction struggles in her new memoir Open Book and in a new sit down with NBC's Today show host Hoda Kotb, the star admits she didn't seek help until she was in a "downward spiral".

"I would say it openly to everyone: 'I know, I know, I'll stop soon, I'll cut back.' For me to cut back, like I'm an all or nothing girl, and so I didn't know it was a problem until it was," she says.

"I completely didn't recognize myself…I always had a glitter cup. It was always filled to the rim with alcohol," she adds. "I just realized that I had to surrender. It was time. I had to give it up and I was ready. I'm not going to miss another day."

In the book, out on February 4, the Dukes of Hazzard beauty reveals her battles were so severe, she was in a fight for her life.

"I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills," she writes, noting she quit drinking in 2017 and that she was relieved to give up something that "allowed (her) to stay complacent and numb".

Simpson, who has three children with husband Eric Johnson, also shared that she hit "rock bottom" when she found herself drunk early one morning while preparing for a Halloween party. She also noted that she was "ashamed to say" she was unable to dress her children in their costumes that evening.
