Gal Gadot] made sure she worked out five days a week to get in the best shape possible for {Wonder Woman 1984.

Gal’s Los Angeles-based trainer Magnus Lygdback revealed the Israeli actress was focused on a slow and steady approach to getting in shape to reprise her role as Diana Prince and her superhero alter-ego for the follow-up to 2017's Wonder Woman.

He told The Hollywood Reporter that he worked closely with Gadot and director Patty Jenkins to ensure that the training for the ‘80s-set sequel wasn't as hardcore as it was for the original movie.

"Both Patty Jenkins and Gal had a vision of how Wonder Woman should look, and they didn’t change much,” the Swedish trainer explained, noting that Gadot trained for one hour a day, five days a week. “They had the same for this one, but it was more about making sure that Gal was as strong and as healthy as possible."

Lygdback, who has previously worked with stars including James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander, said it was important that 35-year-old Gal took it slow and steady with her workouts to avoid getting injured during the six-month shoot.

"We weren't going for the most muscle mass possible. We wanted to build a strong foundation, focus on keeping Gal mobile and uninjured," he shared, adding that her diet consisted of proteins, plus dense carbohydrates, healthy fats and lots of vegetables.

And for her workouts, Lygdback took Gadot through his favourite strength training exercises, which focused heavily on her core muscles.

"Leg press, front dumbbell squats, skaters and skate jumps – that's such a good one because it recruits fast-twitch muscle fibres and works all three of the glute muscles – pull-ups, lateral raises and a ton of core work," he said.
