Anya Taylor-Joy almost missed out on wearing her show-stopping emerald Dior dress for the 2021 Golden Globes.

The actress scooped the Best Actress in a Limited Series for her role as chess prodigy Beth Harmon in The Queen's Gambit during the virtual awards ceremony on Sunday, while wearing a couture green gown with matching dress coat by Dior's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri.

In a new interview with British Vogue, her stylist Law Roach revealed that there was another gown from the French maison waiting in the wings for Anya to wear.

“If you know anything about Law Roach you know there’s always another dress...” he quipped.

Law took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes video of Anya pirouetting around the Beverly Wilshire hotel while wearing a Cinderella-inspired pearlescent pale blue gown, which echoed Christian Dior dresses in the 1950s.

"Maria Grazia Chiuri really let us live out our fantasy and do something in homage to both Monsieur Dior and Anya’s characters,” Law explained, nothing that the pale blue dress was "very much in the wheelhouse of Monsieur Christian Dior."

Anya didn't get the opportunity to showcase her stunning emerald green dress she and Law eventually opted for on the red carpet, as due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, only the Golden Globes' presenters were allowed to walk the socially-distanced red carpet.

However, the celebrity stylist aimed high when creating his look for Anya, and refused to pare down his vision for the actress.

“Fashion is supposed to be fantasy. It transports someone to somewhere else, and Anya is the type of client who understands this, so why not go big?” he stated.
