Tori Spelling ignored her financial woes to throw her daughter Stella a lavish unicorn-themed ninth birthday party over the weekend (01-02Jul17).

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star and her husband Dean McDermott have been battling monetary issues for several years.

But just months after they were ordered to pay a $220,000 (£170,750) default judgment over an unpaid loan, the pair went all out to celebrate their little girl's big day.

The couple were joined by friends and family including their other children Liam, 10, Hattie, five, Finn, four, and four-month-old Beau, as well as Tori's mother Candy Spelling, brother Randy and her ex co-star Jennie Garth.

Photos of Saturday's bash obtained by E! News show that guests were treated to a host of sweet treats including an elaborate unicorn birthday cake and ice cream.

Entertainment at the party included pony rides, a pinata and face painting, with many of the guests also sporting their own unicorn headbands.

Tori has a history of going all out for her children's birthday parties; Stella's bash comes a few months after the family marked son Liam's 10th birthday by hosting a "glamping" session and movie night under the stars.

However, these expensive occasions come despite financial issues in Tori and Dean's personal life.

Bosses at City National Bank launched legal action against the the couple in December (16) for allegedly failing to pay back a $400,000 (£310,500) loan from several years ago. A judge then ordered the pair to pay $202,000 (£156,800), plus $18,000 (£14,000), for a total of $220,000.

The news comes a month after the actress had $700,000 (£543,150) docked from her bank account by U.S. tax officials to cover an outstanding lien relating to earnings from 2014.

Tori and Dean are also facing legal action from American Express bosses after failing to pay off their credit card debts.
