Over the next three weeks, Nikki & The Morning Show will be running a contest every day at 8:00 AM for a chance to win 1000$ from Brault & Martineau. We’re calling it Nikki & the Morning Show’s Living Room Redo, and every morning, a lucky winner will have the opportunity to upgrade their family’s favorite space by simply guessing the TV show theme song they play.
The contest got us thinking about what our favourite sitcoms, are and what we would put on a list of the greatest ever made— which is no easy task considering the first U.S. sitcom in the history of television (Mary Kay and Johnny) debuted in 1947 on the Dumont Network— meaning we would have nearly 75 years of television history to sort through in order to narrow down a solid list.
Lucky for us, Rolling Stone recently released their list of what they consider the 100 greatest sitcoms of all time and for the most part, we agree with their picks. It’s of course, certainly debatable, but on the list, you’ll find sitcoms from different decades and of different formats— ranging from I love Lucy to The Golden Girls and everything in between.
Great shows come in many forms, but there really is nothing like a genuinely great sitcom. Here are the 20 greatest sitcoms as decided by Rolling Stone. We recommend visiting their website for the full list of 100 shows! Enjoy!
