It’s the end of an era for an iconic chant. Montreal’s transit agency, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), has announced it will no longer display the English phrase “Go Habs Go” on its buses in support of sports teams. From now on, only French slogans will be used.

This decision follows complaints made to the Office québécois de la langue française regarding the message “Go! CF MTL GO!” previously seen on STM buses.

Going forward, the official message you’ll see on buses cheering on local teams will be: “Allez! Canadiens! Allez!”
