Montreal’s police service (SPVM) today unveiled its new look, complete with a new paint job for its cars, a new logo and a new uniform. The change coincides with the service’s 175th anniversary.
Starting today, the SPVM’s fleet and uniforms will gradually be replaced. Uniforms will feature an updated shoulder badge with the new logo, and older police cars will be gradually replaced with new models bearing the updated paint job. The new logo mentions “Depuis 1843” (Since 1843), to reflect the service’s 175th anniversary.
For their part, the cars will have better visual contrast and added reflective strips to improve safety.
Ian Lafrenière, head of communications for the SPVM, insisted these changes wouldn’t cost any additional money, since they’re being implemented gradually. That also means that for a time, old and new SPVM uniforms and cars will operate side-by-side.
