Bringing a BBQ to a picnic is a great way to spend the afternoon! You don’t have to stay confined to your own home, there are plenty of parks in Montreal where BBQing is allowed, and even encouraged!

You’ll need a few things first:

  • Portable BBQ such as this charcoal grill, $65.99 on Amazon or this propane model at $74.99;
  • A bag of charcoal or a mini propane tank, depending on the type of grill you’re using;
  • Grill-safe utensils – you’ll probably want at least a spatula and/or tongs;

Montreal even has one parc (Angrignon) where BBQs are provided for free! All you have to do is bring charcoal!

Once you’re prepared to grill, there are a few additional things you need to know.

  • BBQs are strictly forbidden in all parks in Anjou and Saint-Leonard;
  • Charcoal BBQs are forbidden in the Plateau-Mont-Royal;
  • Ahuntsic-Cartierville has some restrictions. Visit their website to learn more;
  • Most parks where BBQs are tolerated have designated picnic areas. It’s highly recommended to use them! These areas usually have specially designated ash deposits for burn charcoal ashes. Please use these!
