Viola Davis has won praise for swapping her sky-high heels for chic sneakers during the 2019 Emmy Awards.
The Oscar-winning actress walked the purple carpet with her husband Julius Tennon on Sunday night, and looked stunning in a black and white one-shoulder custom Alberta Ferretti gown, which she matched with a pair of black Stuart Weitzman stilettos.
However, eagle-eyed viewers spotted that the 54-year-old had changed out of her heels into a pair of silver platform sneakers when she appeared on stage to present the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, which was collected by Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage.
Fans took to social media to sing the praises of Viola, who were impressed with her decision to rock the casual footwear at such a big event.
"Viola Davis is wearing a red carpet gown and sneakers, because she can," one wrote on Twitter, while another added: "Viola Davis stole my diamonds and sneakers aesthetic and she's doing it way better than I do."
"Viola Davis presented in her gym shoes. I have no choice but to stan even harder," a third user commented.
And it's not the first time that Viola, who missed out on the Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series to Killing Eve's Jodie Comer, has gone low-key with her footwear.
The How to Get Away with Murder star changed out of her heels following the Academy Awards in 2017, after scooping the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fences.
She arrived at the ceremony in a red off-the-shoulder Armani gown, with yet another pair of Stuart Weitzman pumps, but changed into a white suit and gold Stella McCartney platform brogues for the Vanity Fair Oscars party.
