Canada's chief public health officer is Dr. Theresa Tam is officially recommending Canadians wear non-medical face masks when maintaining a two-metre distance isn't possible.

She says if you can’t predict whether you can maintain that two-metre distance, then it’s recommended that you wear the non-medical mask or facial covering.

Quebec's Deputy Premier Genevieve Guilbault encouraged Quebecers to do the same and to start/develop the a habit of wearing a non-medical mask when in public. - "It's a new habit that we're going to have to develop and cultivate."
