Another week goes by and more and more things are starting to open across the city of Montreal.

Just a few days ago, we published an update about the opening of the Verdun Beach and now it seems Clock Tower Beach, located in Old Montreal, is officially opening for the summer as of Friday, July 3.

Even if swimming isn’t an option, Clock Tower Beach is still a great place to relax, have a few drinks, and get a tan.

Of course, because of Covid-19, they’ve added a few new rules that you must follow if you plan to visit.

This summer the beach will not be providing its usual lounge chairs and tables as a preventative measure against Covid-19. You are welcome to bring your own chair. Wearing a mask on the beach is not compulsory but highly encouraged by the Old Port staff.

Here is a complete list of the Clock Tower Beach rules via the Old Port’s website.

1. Smoking or vaping is prohibited at all times on the entire beach site.

2. Minors are prohibited from entering the triangular area at the end of the quay unless accompanied by parental authority, except to use the showers and toilets or to enter and exit the beach. Unaccompanied minors must remain in the area that stretches alongside the quay, facing the Yacht Club.

3. Alcoholic beverages that have been purchased off-site may not be brought to the beach and consumed there. Beverages purchased in the refreshment area may be consumed on the beach, but only in the triangular area at the end of the quay.

4. Pets are prohibited from the beach. Service animals are permitted while on duty but must be identified and must remain on a leash at all times.

5. Crossing or straddling the barriers around the perimeter of the beach is prohibited.

6. Appropriate bathing attire is mandatory. Infants must wear a diaper or a bathing suit.

7. Projectiles (balloons, balls, Frisbees, etc.) may not be tossed or thrown by any means whatsoever.

8. To maintain peace and quiet, the use of sound amplifiers and musical instruments is prohibited. Only personal audio devices are permitted.

9. Glass containers are prohibited from the beach.

10. In-line skating, skateboarding, and cycling are not allowed on the beach.  Bicycles must be parked in the bicycle racks located outside the beach perimeter.

11. No one may plant parasols or any other structure into the sand as they could damage the membrane beneath the sand.

12. Minors are prohibited from using any part of the beach during nighttime
