A heat wave is expected this week

Environment Canada issued a heat warning for the Montreal area that is expected to last through Friday.

Heat Warning in effect for: Châteauguay - La Prairie, Laval, Longueuil,  and Montréal Island

A warm and humid air mass will begin Tuesday through Friday. Temperature will exceed the 30-degree mark during the day and is not expected to drop below 20 degrees at night. Combined values of the temperature and the humidity will give humidex values near 40.

KEEP SAFE 

  • Check on older family, friends and neighbours.
  • Make sure they are cool and drinking water
  • Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
  • Watch for the symptoms of heat illness: dizziness/fainting; nausea/vomiting; rapid breathing and extreme thirst
