Since the masks became mandatory in all public areas and you may be someone with very sensitive skin, breakouts are bound to happen. A new word made from both acne and masks has hit skin specialists it’s called “maskne” this term is caused by breakouts from wearing a mask.

The friction from wearing the mask irritates your skin causes bacteria that transfers from your mask to your face and could potentially promote acne.

Here are some solutions that may help:

The material of your mask makes a huge difference. When spending a little more on your mask but the material is softer on your face, it may cause less friction which causes less irritation. Natural fabrics or silks

Rotating masks.  Do not reuse your mask because whatever bacteria that originally caused your maskne will only carry on when you rewear it.

Wash your face. If you are prone to maskne be sure you wash your face with anti-inflammatory ingredients. This will reduce inflammation.

Moisturize. Keeping your skin moisturized is always good when experiencing sensitivity.

Facemask more often. Because using a mask isn’t something we are used to make sure to take care of your face with enriching facemasks.

Wearing Makeup.  We all wear makeup, but it also doesn’t help when adding a mask to it. So try to wear a little less makeup or even mineral brands to avoid breakouts.

Keep your mask clean!
