It wasn't that long ago we reported Taylor Swift was closing in on becoming the queen of the U.S. albums chart after tying Whitney Houston for the most weeks at number one.
Well it seems now that Folklore has returned to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, Taylor Swift has now officially broken the record held since 1987 by the late Houston.
Swift's latest, Folklore, has sat on top for seven non-consecutive weeks, giving her a total of 47 weeks, one more than Houston.
It seems the singer/songwriter got a boost following the Academy of Country Music Awards, where she performed "Betty" off Folklore and released it as a single shortly after.
The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. The Oct. 3 chart will be published on Tuesday.
Folklore is Swift’s seventh album to reach number one. The Beatles are the all-time record holders for the most weeks at number one, spread out over 19 albums.
Among all acts, Swift is now fifth behind The Beatles (132 weeks), Elvis Presley (67), Garth Brooks (52), and Michael Jackson (51).
The Grammy award-winning artist co-wrote 15 of the 16 tracks on Folklore alongside producers Aaron Dessner (a member of the rock band The National) and long-time collaborator Jack Antonoff.
