Claudia Schiffer has become the latest celebrity to be immortalised as a Barbie.
The iconic supermodel has been transformed into the classic Mattel doll in honour of her 50th birthday, and designers Donatella Versace and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing both created custom creations for Claudia's Barbie.
"It’s such an amazing birthday gift,” she shared, noting that the famous doll was the first time that she began to connect with fashion.
Schiffer, who reached the milestone age in August, worked closely with the team at Mattel to bring the designs to life, and chose to recreate the blue gown, which features a corset bodice and floor-length A-line skirt, she wore during Versace’s fall/winter 1994 runway show.
And Donatella told Vogue that when she saw the model wear the dress for the first time, she reminded her instantly of the doll.
“When Claudia first stepped into the runaway, with her blonde, long hair and the angelic face, the whole world immediately saw her as the personification of Barbie,” she shared. “Two strong women who do not need to be empowered by anyone, because they have always been the makers of their destiny.”
The second look is a recreation of a look Schiffer wore from Balmain's 2016 spring campaign, which features an embellished long-sleeved macrame top and a long skirt with faux cutouts.
“She’s the definition of a supermodel,” Rousteing explained. “Over the decades, she’s inspired millions with her distinctive mix of confidence, style, and beauty. The Balmain campaign that she shot for me will forever remain one of my favourite memories.”
However, fans looking to get hold of the high-fashion dolls will be disappointed to learn that Claudia's Barbies were created solely for an editorial on the @BarbieStyle Instagram page.
