In a press conference held earlier today, Mayor Valérie Plante announced that starting on November 14, Montreal merchants will be allowed to extend their store hours until 10 pm on weekdays and 7 pm on weekends. The city is also extending the period of pedestrian streets and outdoor art installations through the winter as well.
“I invite Montrealers to consume locally during this holiday season. The commercial development companies and the City of Montreal are redoubling their efforts to support our merchants at this crucial time, but it is together that we will contribute to the survival of our businesses by buying locally,” she said.
The extended hours of operation will be permitted until December 3 and is one of six new measures put in place by the city to stimulate Montreal's economy.
Earlier today we reported the city is also offering free parking on weekends between November 14 and December 31, 2020.
