LL Cool J is launching a new apparel and accessories collection inspired by the impact of gold chains in hip-hop culture.
The Control Myself singer launched Rock the Bells, a limited-edition collection of clothing and accessories named after his hit 1985 song and inspired by the history of the hip-hop movement, in January, and in June, he collaborated with artist and designer Alexander-John on a T-shirt and hoodie to honour the Black Lives Matter movement.
The duo have joined forces once again for the Chain Collection, which launched on the Rock the Bells site on Wednesday. The collection features T-shirts, a hoodie, joggers, a varsity jacket and duffel bag which are inspired by the impact that gold chains have on hip-hop culture.
The rapper/actor is pleased with the finished products, with his favourite pieces in the collection being the jacket and the chain drip pants
"This Alexander-John collection came together in a magical way, and the rest is history," he said to WWD. "He designed it and trusted us to really go out and find high quality and take it to that level. They say teamwork makes a dream work and I think it worked well this time... This is a really cool collection and I hope people enjoy it and wear it in pride and health."
LL reached out to the designer about working together after admiring some of his customised sneakers.
"He had his ear to the street and I thought the design was unique and special - adventurous but still disciplined - and I said, 'I would love to have him work on a collection for us, something people are going to love,'" he recalled.
The Chain Collection ranges in price from $75 (£56) to $495 (£372).
