Halsey and boyfriend Alev Aydin hinted at their baby-making future together by getting matching tattoos on Father's Day last year.
The singer stunned fans by sharing that she was expecting her first child in a surprise announcement on Wednesday, posting a series of sweet snaps of her blossoming baby bump on Instagram.
It was revealed that the father of Halsey's baby was screenwriter and film producer Aydin, who she reportedly began dating towards the end of last year.
However, the Without Me hitmaker seemingly confirmed her low-key relationship in June last year, as she and her beau were inked with the word "seeds" on their feet during a trip to Joshua Tree in California.
Tattoo artist Amanda Owley shared photos of the couple after their session on Instagram at the time, and she told People on Wednesday that the ink has a special meaning for the soon-to-be parents.
"They came in on Father's Day last year which is cute now that she's pregnant. She just strolled in," Owley explained. "She said that everything with how the planets were aligned and where the cosmos were at that moment indicated that it was the best time to plant seeds into the ground of life."
"They wanted to get the words on their feet because it was closest to the earth," she added, noting that the tattoos were in each other's handwriting. "They probably practised writing it about a hundred times before they found the right one."
During the inking session, Halsey told the tattoo artist that she and Aydin had been friends for "a long time".
"They were laughing a lot the whole time," Owley said. "They were definitely really close. They were super humble and awesome."
