Canada’s vaccination program passed a new milestone today when the two-millionth person was given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. And now, Montreal has set up another vaccination site that is expected to administer 1,000 doses per day at the Bill Durnan Arena in the Notre-Dame-de-Grace borough.
The site is open seven-days-a-week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
An appointment is required, which can be made by calling 1-877-644-4545 or using the Quebec government site.
During the vaccination, the caregiver of an elderly person can also get a vaccine at the same time, if he is 70 years of age and over, and if he is present for support three days a week or more.
Only one accompanying person can be vaccinated.
According to Montreal public health officials, several thousand additional appointment slots for various vaccination centres across the island are now available via the Clic Santé website.
These slots are mainly for appointments at the Olympic Stadium and the Palais des congrès. More appointments are to be made available across the island in the coming days.
“With the good news about the arrival of large quantities of vaccines, we can now step up the pace,” said Dr. Mylène Drouin, Montreal’s public health director.
