So you call yourself a movie enthusiast… But, are you able to identify a music score to its film?
In a study of 2,000 respondents produced by OnePoll on behalf of OPPO Find X3, the top recognizable film music scores of all time are: “Harry Potter”, “Titanic”, and “Inception”. Shocking, right?
Film scores are made by (usually) one single composer to help unite a specific film with its story line perfectly. In the study, 62% of respondents believed that a good film score can help better the quality of a film, while 59% believed a bad film score can ruin the experience for them completely.
Other films that made the top 10 list were, quite obviously, “Stars Wars” and the iconic music from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film “Psycho”. While respondents seemed confident in their guesses, the study revealed that 45% could not associate the film to “Star Wars” music score. In fact, 17% believed the music score from “Psycho” belonged to the film “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
Speaking of “Pirates of the Carribean”, film score composer Hans Zimmer says that the language of music can tell the most beautiful of stories, and music score’s can help drive that home in film: “You have the total freedom to tell a story in your language, in music. I mean, it’s pretty great.”
Hans partnered with OPPO to create a downloadable ringtone that will undoubtedly add more serenity to the beginning of your every call. Check out the ringtone “Colourful Future” by Hans Zimmer to experience the beauty of having a perfectly fit music score to add to the story of your own life.
