Nails on a chalkboard, microphone feedback, a poorly played violin… These are just SOME of the world’s most cringe-worthy sounds. But, nothing compares to the sound of your morning alarm clock.

These days, getting out of bed couldn’t be harder. When that alarm clock hits, you want nothing more than to throw your phone across the opposite end of the room. But, what if it didn’t have to be that way?

Australian researchers, Stuart J. McFarlane, Jair E. Garcia, and Adrian G. Dyer from RMIT University, discovered that adjusting the sound of your alarm clock to something more catchy and upbeat helps to eliminate that groggy feeling that most of us get when we wake up. That’s right, you can finally say goodbye to that generic alarm clock sound!

Want to give this theory a try? Here is a curated list of songs that are sure to leave you feeling more awake and happy to the start of your every morning:

“Watermelon Sugar” - Harry Styles
“Hold On” - Justin Bieber
“Put Your Records On” - Ritt Momney
“Good Days” - SZA
“Levitating” - Dua Lipa feat. DaBaby
“How Will I Know” - Whitney Houston
“Roar” - Katy Perry
“I Say a Little Prayer” - Aretha Franklin
“Happy” - Pharrel Williams
