On this day, April 30, 1988, a then-unknown Céline Dion won the thirty-third edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. She’s now one of the most recognizable singers in history but her superstar status took off that very night as she helped Switzerland emerge victorious for only the second time and winning the contest by only a single point. And to gain the judge's votes, all she had to do was deliver a breathtaking performance of "Ne partez pas sans moi". Although her Eurovision-winning song would not be a big success commercially, Dion would become one of the world's biggest-selling artists, having sold over 200 million records across her career.
