The long weekend will not be kind to Montreal motorists. In addition to the emergency closure of the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, the Quebec transportation department is recommending motorists avoid the Ville-Marie Expressway east between the tunnel and the Turcot Interchange and on spans of the Metropolitan Expressway.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect this long weekend.
The Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, which connects Montreal's West Island to Vaudreuil-Dorion via Highway 40, has been shut down for safety reasons.
Traffic will be diverted to highways 20 and 30. The toll on Highway 30 will be removed until the bridge reopens.
