Queen Elizabeth II will meet U.S. President Joe Biden at Windsor Castle on 13 June.
Buckingham Palace officials announced the news on Thursday in a short statement that read, "The Queen will meet the President of the United States of America and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle on Sunday, 13th June 2021."
The meeting will take place while Biden is in the U.K. to attend the two-day G7 summit in Carbis Bay in Cornwall between 11 and 13 June. At the 47th summit, leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S. will discuss a range of issues.
The visit will mark Biden's first overseas trip since he was inaugurated as president in January.
It'll also be his first time meeting the British royal, despite him serving as Vice President to Barack Obama for eight years.
There have been 14 U.S. presidents during the monarch's 69-year reign and Biden, 78, will be the 13th to meet her. The only leader the Queen did not meet was Lyndon B. Johnson, who did not visit the U.K. during his time at the White House.
Biden's visit to the Queen will take place the day after Trooping the Colour. The Queen’s Official Birthday Parade will not go ahead in its traditional form in central London again this year but alternative plans in Windsor are being considered.
