Canada Post takes an environmentally friendly approach with new e-cargo trikes

In a recent press release, Canada Post announced that they will be testing out brand new e-cargo trikes in downtown Montreal.

This initiative is to test out alternate options in delivering packages that will help better customer service, improve environmental performance and help reduce downtown traffic.

“This initiative is one way Canada Post is investing in innovations and technology to reduce environmental impact and deliver a sustainable future. Canada Post embraces the growing expectations on large organizations to take action on the environment and will be making further announcements in the coming weeks.”

Operating out of the Bridge Street facility, the two trikes will be tested out along various bike lanes where employees will be able to report on viability of locations and what best safety procedures are needed for the project.

What are your thoughts on this new project? Do you think we need to see more initiatives like this happen in other organizations as well?
