Do you like scary movies? If so, you’ll be happy to know that Ghostface is back!
In the first trailer for Scream 5, or technically just Scream, the franchise is caught halfway between a sequel and a reboot, and never did it seem more meta!
Unfortunately, we will not be able to see the new Scream movie this Halloween; instead, it’s set for a release on January 14, 2022. However, it should be worth the wait since Scream 5 brings back stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette!
New faces include Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, Jack Quaid, and Melissa Barrera. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson is also aboard as an executive producer.
This is the first film in the series that will not be directed by horror-legend Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015. Instead, the new film will be directed by the team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, whose last project together was 2019’s horror-comedy Ready or Not.
It is also worth noting that the poster comes with a clever tagline that reads, "it's always someone you know." Now that you've seen the trailer, start speculating on who you think will be revealed as the new Ghostface.
