The Quebec government announced on Tuesday that they will be lowering the isolation period to 5 days to COVID-19 positive people, under certain conditions.
After following the footsteps of other provinces in the country, Quebec will now allow people that are showing symptoms of COVID-19 to end their isolation early once their symptoms regress or go away, as long as they have not had fever for 24 hours and if they wear a mask and keep a two-metre distance from others. This process must be followed for at least 5 days after they have come out of isolation.
This new measure applies to:
- People with COVID-19-like symptoms
- Exposed to a positive person in their household
- People who are double vaccinated
- Children under 12
However, this new measure does not apply to everyone…
Healthcare workers that meet these guidelines and are in direct contact with patients must isolate for a minimum of 7 days, instead of the ten-day period.
According to CTV News, “In announcing the news Tuesday, Dr. Marie-France Raynault, a medical adviser to Quebec public health, explains if a PCR or rapid test is not available to you, you must consider yourself COVID-19 positive.”
As of now, you do not need a negative test after your five-day isolation period.
