A TikTok video is going viral of a waitress who shares that she received a $25 gift card from Amazon instead of a cash tip from a customer.
The video was posted from TikTok user @kaittwest, with the caption “holidays left us #broke”, and it has got people talking about different restaurant habits and tipping practices.
Although the gift card was over a 20% tip, it definitely was not what Kaitlyn was expecting.
This morning, The Morning Show asked our listeners what they thought of this customer’s action, and here is what some of you had to say:
“It’s weird, but much better than NO tip… Which a lot of people do.”
“Somebody once tipped me with a $5 coin from the Montreal Casino.”
“My first thought would be… Is this card empty? Am I being scammed?”
While some people believe it’s better than nothing, others felt strongly that money should be the only currency a waitress should receive… You can’t pay bills with gift cards after all!
